UMTR Ultra Series: Racing the Horse Out West

Hello!

The leaves have begun to turn color here in Duluth, and I’m left wondering what happened to the summer. Of course, fall is about the best time for trailrunning, but not sure I’m ready yet…

And another race is in the books! A few hearty, heat-loving souls took on the Lean Horse races, with some great results. Rob Henderson was the second man and Amy Clark fourth woman in the 50K. Janet Hausken ran well to finish sixth overall in the 50 mile, and Allan Holtz had his fastest 100 finish since 2008 if Ultrasignup is correct. Well done, all!

Only one change in the series standings, as Janet overtook the lead of the Women’s Masters. Otherwise the group of Leslie, Amy, Chris, Wayne, and Rick continue to lead. Four race dates left, who is going to move and shake the standings up?

On to the big dance up the North Shore, Superior 50 & 100 next weekend. Good luck to everyone racing! I’ll be waiting for a high five from all of the 100 mile runners at County Road 6 (and hopefully again at the finish line later!)

Keep the volunteer reports coming, and let me know of any errors or omissions. Happy trails!

-Eric
