UMTR Ultra Series: Hello, Chester Woods! And 100 Mile Fun at Kettle Moraine…‏

It was great to see enthusiastic participation from ultra series participants at the Chester Woods 50K, a new addition to the series this year! Nearly a fifth of the finishers were UMTR members, awesome turnout! Highlights were Jesse Berwald placing second, with Corey Jurowski, Kevin Langton, and Matt Wilson also in the top 10. Alex Eichman finished eighth on the women’s side, with Stephanie Hoff just outside the top 10.

Trails were hopping down at the Kettle Moraine races as well. All UMTR series entrants opted for the 100 mile distance, no shortcuts here (a few are challenging the Gnarly Bandit!). Tina Johnson had a fine finish for the women in 3rd place, 19th overall! John Maas led the men in 9th overall.

On to the standings. On the women’s side, the leaders stayed the same with Christi Nowak heading the open and overall, Kathy Jambor the masters, and Amy Clark the grandmasters. For the men, Corey Jurowski reclaimed the open and overall leads, Wayne Nelson extended his masters lead as did Peter Schnorbach in the grandmasters.

This weekend features the Black Hills races in South Dakota. There will be a photo opportunity for UMTR members to gather at approximately 5:40AM on race day. Look for the banner, and I will see you there!

As always, let me know of any errors or omissions and report your volunteering time.
