UMTR Trail Series: Through Superior Spring 25K

“There was a bit of mud out there today” and “I love this race!” Those were two comments heard over and over at last week’s Spring Superior Races in Lutsen. Attached are the updated Trail Series Results and we have people putting up some very impressive numbers!!!!

Overall Men’s and Women’s leaders are Ethan (don’t call me Dr. yet) who has run all four races with three first places and a “move up” to the 50k this past week. Wendy holds a slim lead in the Women’s field with 90 points over second place Christi Nowak with 75 points.

Leaders of the Men’s classes include Richards in the Men’s Open, Luke Nelson(105 points) with a 20 point lead over Kevin Montroy(85 points) and Rick(I’m going to run every race again this year) Stevens leading the Men’s Grand Masters with 90 points.

Wendy Nelson heads up the Women’s Open, but the best race of all the classes is the Women’s Masters. Nora Koplos Compton and Janet Gray are slugging it out with Compton squeaking out a five point lead(100-95) over Gray. What makes it even more impressive is that both women have run all four races to date. In the Women’s Grand Masters Leann Lehmann leads Barb Zeches (100-80) with two first place finishes.

Props go to Wayne Nelson for being the first UMTR Trail Series member to hit his maximum of three volunteer events. These 15 points can add valuable points to the standings, as well as give support to all our races throughout the year.

Next up? We move to the southern part of the state for the Chester Woods 10 miler in Rochester.

As always, please check the results and contact us with any errors or omissions. Remember to report your volunteer efforts too!
