UMTR Marathon Series: Through Porcupine Mountain

This just in… The UMTR Marathon races have finished and the winners are… well, we actually don’t know yet. Mike Barton is the victor on the Men’s side running four of the six marathons and accumulating 215 division points and 205 overall points. Not only was he the only male to qualify, but he did it in style. He ran four of the marathons in three different states, and he also earned his full complement of volunteer points by helping out at Afton, Voyageur and Fall Superior races. A loud cowbell shout out ring for Mike!

On the women’s side it is not quite so clear. We have a dead heat in the Women’s Master’s division with Amy Rosenbaum Clark and Shelly Thompson tied with 170 points. It’s almost as close in the Women’s overall standings with Clark leading Thompson 170-160. Even though there are no more races to run, both Amy and Shelly have opportunities to earn their final 15 volunteer points which could give the championships to either one!

Go Amy! Go Amy! Go Shelly! Go Shelly!

Who will join Mike at the UMTR banquet in earning their marathon championship award?
